From across the pond
For more than 25 years we’ve been designing and building greenhouses in Norfolk, England, for gardeners who want something that will see them through decades of seasons, not just a few. Now we’re bringing those same greenhouses, made in the same factory by the same team, to gardens across the United States.
Made by gardeners, for gardeners
Our story began in 1995, when we started selling greenhouses in the UK as Greenhouses Direct. Over the years we saw too many greenhouses give up after a few hard winters, and in 1999 that frustration became Rhino: a greenhouse we designed and built ourselves, strong enough to shrug off the weather, practical enough to make growing a pleasure, and handsome enough to earn its place in the garden.
We named it after one of the strongest, most resilient creatures on the planet, and the name has stuck for good reason. Every Rhino we have ever sold has been designed and built in Britain, and because we make and sell our greenhouses ourselves, you buy directly from the people who build them.
Our Story So Far
Rhino Greenhouses (formerly Greenhouses Direct) has been running for over 30 years. The continued development of greenhouses and other products has always been a priority, while also ensuring our standards don't slip both from a product and customer service perspective.

Built for American weather, from Florida to the Pacific Northwest
The qualities that carry a Rhino through a British winter serve it just as well across the United States, whether you garden through stifling summer heat, coastal storms or heavy winter snow.
“Our weather-resistant design can withstand the various weather climates across the USA, from stifling heat to winter storms.”
Bjorn Schalburg, Head of International, Rhino Greenhouses
What comes standard on every Rhino
- 4mm toughened safety glass, around 33% thicker than most greenhouse glass
- A strong aluminum frame with box-section glazing bars and 3mm T-section bracing
- Solar-powered automatic roof vent openers and storm locks, so the roof vents open on hot days and lock shut in high winds
- Louvered side vents for a steady flow of fresh air through the summer
- An integral aluminum base with ground anchors included, ready to sit on firm soil, a brick plinth, concrete piers or a slab
- Integral gutters and downpipes, so you can collect rainwater for your plants
- Two hanging basket rails for extra growing space
- Load-tested with 1,100lb (500 KG) of weight on the roof
Tested by a Category 4 hurricane
When a Category 4 hurricane swept through Florida in October 2024, Joseph Marini, who writes the blog At Home With Joseph, wasn’t sure what he would find in his garden.
He had chosen a 6x8 Rhino Premium precisely because he lives in hurricane country. When the storm passed, there wasn’t a single broken pane, and not a drop of water had found its way inside.
“To my amazement and elation, there the greenhouse stood, with pride, after battling a category 4 hurricane.”
Joseph Marini, At Home With Joseph, Florida
A greenhouse that belongs in your garden
A greenhouse is a long-term investment, so it should earn its keep as a growing space and look the part as a garden feature. Our colored finishes are muted, natural tones chosen to sit comfortably among your planting through every season, adding a little personality without ever overpowering the view.
Choose from Tuscan Olive, Blue Grass, Silver Sage and Midnight Slate.
“More elevated than a typical green, an olive undertone doesn’t jar against seasonal changes in the garden, instead feeling more classic and understated in appearance. It works beautifully in both country gardens and contemporary spaces.”
Bjorn Schalburg, Head of International, Rhino Greenhouses
